Bestia In Downtown LA Among BEST
Though I just wrote a short story about how Bestia saved an online date, I thought it prudent to write once more about this DTLA fav as it truly deserves all the praise from Jonathan Gold and many others.
The world would be better if every restaurant emulated Bestia. Let’s break it down:
I think the dictionary definition of “Teamwork” includes Bestia’s name. Kitchen staff yell to runners and runners run to tables so everything is piping hot. Dishes are paced as perfectly as they are at Zaytinya or French Laundry. Servers super friendly, there when you need ’em.
Bestia is “glamustrial” (the newest DeathbedFood term for Industrial Glam). They do the Arts District good. The loft-like, metal building makes you feel like a hipster. The music is eclectic. Donovan, anyone? Played at the perfect volume on non-tinny speakers, you’re able to actually have a conversation without losing hearing AND feel groovy at the same time. Meantime, the lighting’s perfection – not too bright, not too dark and NOT glaring down so you feel you’re under interrogation.
I’ll cut to the chase here because I think pictures convey it best. One word: DeathbedFood.
So if you need inspiration about eating out again, head there. Plus, you’ll eat well – very well!
