Chef’d Got Me To Cook.
I’ve been hearing about these companies that deliver pre-portioned ingredients with recipes. Chef’d caught my eye because they have recipes from chefs like Melissa D’Arabian and Scott Conant. I decided to order Scott Conant’s Seared Branzino meal for 2, $40.
I’m not a cook. You won’t see many recipes on my blog. I excel at making reservations and ordering in. Yet despite my lack of expertise in the kitchen and the 50-minute estimated cooking time, I dove in.
While the instructions were easy to follow, it took me more than an hour because of my poor peeling prowess. Have you ever peeled a red beet? I hadn’t. It’s cumbersome and bloody. The blood juice ran down my arm and stained my hands pink. What if I had just gotten a mani and was trying to impress my date? No mention of that peril in the recipe.
In the end, it worked out as the meal was DeathbedFood.
Added bonus: The meal was designed to feed two people but could easily have fed four. At the cost of $40, that’s $10/person – for Branzino! I recommend because if I can do it and create DeathbedFood, so can you.
