DIY Garlic Fry Sandwich at Iron Springs.
I haven’t posted much lately. I was busy relocating from Los Angeles to Marin County near San Francisco. They say moving is stressful and they’re right – whoever they are. In any case, I’m happy to report that there is DeathbedFood up here in these parts. Surprising to me, a lot of it is in Fairfax.
I grew up in Marin in the ’70s when the tiny town of Fairfax (now population 7,500) was known more for Birkenstocks than brew pubs. But times have changed because Fairfax is now filled with fabulous restaurants serving DeathbedFood – like the organic Indian food found at Cafe Lotus (Voted ‘Best in Marin’ in 2014).
Iron Springs Pub & Brewery also has DeathbedFood – though you need to make it yourself like I did. But don’t worry. I’m no cook so if I can do it, so can you. Here’s how:
- Order their BLT with garlic fries (the BLT itself is DeathbedFood, made with Zoe’s Applewood bacon, green leaf lettuce, fresh tomatoes, garlic mayo, toasted sourdough);
- Take 1 piece of toast from the sandwich – make sure it has remnants of garlic mayo;
- Heap as much fresh toasted garlic/onion garnish on the fries as possible (if in doubt, error on the side of fewer fries and more garlic garnish).
- Fold in half like New York pizza.
- Have yourself a moment.
