Roast chicken is DeathbedFood for Kamala Harris; I’d make Barefoot’s for her.
If I had the honor of hosting Vice President Kamala Harris for dinner, I know what I’d make: roasted chicken. That’s because Kamala loves it so much she has created her own signature recipe. Because Vice President Harris prefers it crispy, I’d make her Barefoot’s Crispy Mustard-Roasted Chicken from the Barefoot Contessa FOOLPROOF Cookbook (see recipe here). Ina says the recipe is easy so I’d have a high likelihood of success.

For comparison, Kamala’s recipe is below:
- Mix chopped herbs, grated lemon, minced garlic, and salt and pepper.
- Spread that under the chicken skin, sprinkle the whole bird with salt and pepper, truss it up, and let it sit in the fridge for at least 24 hours (helps the skin crisp).
- Rub some oil or butter over it and slow roast it at 325°F for a couple of hours.
Tweet me @DeathbedFood if you make either Kamala’s or Barefoot’s roast chicken. Let me know how it turned out!
