LACMA SHOULD SHOWCASE KOREAN FOOD
LA Times is reporting a partnership between LACMA and Hyundai. The 10-year sponsorship is designed to highlight Korean art and culture. This deal is perfect for LA:
- As with most cultures around the globe, food is a huge part of Korean life.
- Los Angeles has the largest Korean population in the U.S.
- We’re famous for our ethnic and culturally diverse fare – including an increasingly visible Korean influence (see Anthony Bourdain’s tour of Koreatown.)
My hope is that LACMA consults with two of the preeminent Korean American chefs we have here: Roy Choi and Sang Yoon. Roy started food truck madness with Kogi BBQ. Meantime, while Sang is most known for his Father’s Office “one size fits all” take-it-or-leave-it burger, LUKSHON is where he most clearly incorporates Asian cooking influence in his food.
LACMA, please reach out to Roy and Sang. Guaranteed, they’ll bring spice to any Korean food exhibits you must include at the museum.
