Milo + Olive Kouign-Amann’s My Dream Car.
At the first bite of Milo + Olive‘s Mexican Chocolate Kouign-Amann, I fanned myself while blurting out “This is the Ferrari of kouign-amann”. Pastry chef Zoe Nathan had done it. She made the glammed up version of one of my favorite childhood snacks, the Hostess chocolate pudding pie with all of its trans fat goodness.
But then I read about the new limited-edition Lamborghini Centenario. This puff pastry isn’t a Ferrari. It’s a Centenario Lamborghini! Lightweight carbon fiber. Massive V-12 engine. 770 horsepower. Jack rabbit starts from zero to 60 mph in under 3 seconds. Top speed over 215 mph. G-force display. MSRP around $2 million. Yup. Two mill.
And it’s not just an off-the-lot Centenario. It’d be a tricked-out after-market beauty with pitch black limo tinted windows for privacy, 30” matte yellow spinning rims, tires with “Pirelli” spelled out in bold white lettering and yellow flames painted on the doors. And, of course, I’d have one of those new black with yellow letters retro California plates to complement the beast’s yellow trim. It’d read DEATH.
THAT’S how good Zoe’s caramelized chocolate croissant concoction is. The only problem (for Zoe) is that it may be too good. Now, instead of pining for the Mexican chocolate pastry, I’m drooling over the Lamborghini.
