Okamoto Kitchen At Great Foodie Fest in Vegas!
The Great American Foodie Fest is baaaacckkk. This is the food fest in Las Vegas that showcases some of the best gourmet food trucks from around the nation. Some of whom have been featured on Food Network, Cooking Channel and Travel Channel. One of the food trucks participating this year is my favorite in Los Angeles, Okamoto Kitchen, a truck specializing in Japanese comfort food.
Co-founders (and married) Gerald and Chizuru Abraham deserve a big round of applause for being qualified to attend this event. Okamoto Kitchen a brand new food truck that launched on July 1st of this year. They were nominated to be one of the Top 3 Food Trucks in L.A. Weekly’s Best Of L.A. 2015 Reader’s Choice Poll – when they had been on the road only 3 months! This will be the first time the truck has been outside of Los Angeles.
Their truck has garnered attention for two very good reasons:
THE FOOD. They specialize in Japanese comfort food (Classic-style Japanese Curry, Chicken Nanban, Japanese-style Pork Chashuu, Croquettes and more). They use Chef Chizuru’s original recipes which are impressive. Chizuru is a first generation Japanese who graduated from Le Condon Bleu and studied under a master, Nobu Matsuhisa.
THE TRUCK ITSELF. The truck has an anime and gaming culture, perfectly fitting for a Japanese food truck. Co-founder/husband Gerald has been passionate about video gaming and anime his whole life. He lived in Japan for several years, is fluent in Japanese, and has over a decade of computer graphics and visual effects experience. You won’t be able to miss their red and yellow, anime-laden truck.
Catch them Oct 15 – 18 at Sunset Station in Henderson, Nevada – and follow them on Twitter @OkamotoKitchen for live tweets from the event!
