I, Diane, Take You Blog To Be My Daily Duty.
I realize it’s June not January but I’m inspired to make a resolution to post on this blog every day this month. I’m taking a cue from the movie, JULIE & JULIA, about Julie Powell, the blogger who set out to cook every recipe in Julia Childs’ first book. That’s the positive impetus.
There’s also a negative one. On June 9, the DeathbedFood blog will be 5 years old! Almost all growed up. And how’s it doing? Based on Alexa measurement of how many people read it, not good. Trump would say it’s a disaster. A DISASTER. Terrible. Just TERRIBLE. According to Alexa, DeathbedFood.com is ranked 14 Million. As I pointed out in my recent post “My Writing Stinks,” other bloggers are far ahead: estar LA is 6 million; Darin Dines is 1.4 million; and Eater is 3,000!
I am doing better on Twitter with @DeathbedFood. I have 3,000 followers after 5 years, organically grown. Not to brag but celeb chefs like Jose Andres and Melissa D’Arabian have engaged with me regularly on the site. I even received a meal gratis at Zaytinya in Washington, D.C. because Jose Andres was watching my live tweets and told the waiter to tell us the meal was on him! And a few years ago, CBS LA ranked DeathbedFood as “One of the Best Foodies to Follow on Twitter in LA” along with Eater LA and Krista Simmons.
Still, my blog needs work. So, I hereby vow to post daily this month.
If anyone is reading this (note the word “if”), tweet me @DeathbedFood. That way I’ll know it’s a resolution for which someone will hold me accountable.
Whew. *wiping brow* One down. Only 29 more to go …
