Starbucks Going Big with 30,000 Square Foot Store.
I’m dying to go to Shanghai, renowned as one of the best cities in Asia for its food. Eater’s latest “Best Restaurants in Asia” list shows several drool-worthy Shanghai spots I must try including Ultraviolet (immersive dining whose chef won the Chef’s Choice Award), meat-free Fu He Hui, and Mr. & Mrs. Bund. It will be a food trip for the ages.
Looks like I’m not the only one who wants to live large in Shanghai. Starbucks just announced that it’s going to open a 30,000 square foot store in the city in late 2017. As Nick Brown of Daily Coffee News reported, it will be Starbucks’ first international Reserve-brand roastery and tasting room. And it will be high-profile, located in the glitzy Taikoo Hui Project now being developed in one of the world’s busiest shopping destinations.

Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz says the company’s top expansion target is China:
China represents the most important and exciting opportunity ahead of us. As our first international Roastery, we will take even bolder steps to make this Shanghai location our most stunning store, while making it completely unique and relevant to the Chinese customer.
So, in addition to Ultraviolet, Fu He Hui and Mr. & Mrs. Bund, I’m going to put Starbucks on my must-try Shanghai list!
